Do you have an estimated date of availability of HydroSHEDS v2 for areas above 60˚N?

Hi Helgason, unfortunately nothing definitive, other than before the end of the year, sorry. We are currently in the pre-processing phase, and will then have to do manual corrections. This can be time consuming and it is difficult to predict how much effort this is. Out of curiosity, what is your use-case for the new data up there?

Hi guen, thanks for the response. Good to know! I am preparing a large-sample hydrologic dataset for Iceland as part of my PhD at the University of Washington. It will be similar to the CAMELS or LamaH datasets, if you’re familiar with those. I would really like to use HydroSHEDS v2 as part of that work, to delineate watersheds and extract topographical attributes of the basins. It seems like the dataset won’t be ready soon enough to fit the timeline of my project, but I’ll keep an eye out for updates. Thanks!

Hi,

We have an ongoing research project about global hydrology, and we’re about to start the work using Hydrosheds. If possible, we’d very much like to use v2, but if it means waiting for more than a few months, we’ll have to do with v1.1, and update the results when v2 is out. It is a substantial investment (for us, we’re small), thus I have to at least try re-asking helgason’s question : do you have an estimated date of availability of HydroSHEDS v2 ?

Same question: what is the current ETA? I’m working on some projects in Africa and North America for which this would be very helpful data. Is there at least a phasing plan for when certain geophraphies might be ready and their relative sequence?
