Finding points where rivers meet the ocean

I am attempting to use HydroRIVERS data to extract all river outlets into the ocean. Based on the technical documentation, I believe this could be achieved by selecting all records with NEXT_DOWN=0 and ENDORHEIC=0. This approach appears to find all of the points I am looking for, but it also finds a cluster of river-ends in Central Asia (mostly around the Kazakhstan-Russia border, extending into Mongolia) - see image below.

Is this a mistake in the data, or am I incorrect in my assumption that NEXT_DOWN=0 and ENDORHEIC=0 means the river reach meets the ocean?

jharr Thanks for the interesting question. There might be other types of sinks that are not endoreic. But I’ll forward the question to a developer, and let you know. The issue seems limited to only a set of points. You probably just removed these point from the selection to get the desired results? If you need something more replicable, you could try making the same selection using HydroBASINS level 12 first, which will give you the basins draining into the ocean. You can then select the reaches inside the selected HydroBASINS, and then run the selection as described a second time.
